ArmInfo.On November 20 Armenian National Assembly Vice-Speaker, co-chairman of Interparliamentary Commission on cooperation between Armenian NA and Belarussian National Assembly Edward Sharmazanov met with the Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus, Co-Chair of the MK Boleslav Pirshtuk.
The meeting also discussed issues of interparliamentary relations' development, cooperation in different international platforms, political and economic relations of the two states.
Sharmazanov stressed the importance of active work of the MC and its role in the development of bilateral relations. He appealed to the need for close cooperation of the parliamentarians of the two countries in the PA CSTO and the IPA CIS. According to the vice-speaker, the MC should be more active and consistent in coordinating discussions on international platforms of issues of bilateral interest. In this context, he noted that next year marks the 70th anniversary of the adoption of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide by the UN General Assembly, and therefore condemning genocidal initiatives will be put forward.
"Without recognition of the past and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide, it is impossible to prevent new genocides, we must condemn any manifestation of genocidal politics, fascism and Nazism." Ignoring the Armenian Genocide gave rise to Hitlerite fascism, "Sharmazanov stressed.
