ArmInfo. The possibility that Armenia will sign a framework agreement with EU on November 24 at the Brussels Eastern Partnership Summit is great, Alexander Iskandaryan, the Director of the Caucasus Institute stated at a press conference in Yerevan on November 7.
According to him, even if the agreement is not signed on the 24th, it will be signed after it. Answering the question whether it is possible that Armenia will be forced to sign an "inconvenient" document for it, Iskandaryan said that Yerevan is free not to sign those documents that it does not like, including those concerning the territorial integrity of states. "No one will force her to sign something, it's another matter that at the Brussels summit documents can be adopted that Armenia can not influence," the political expert said.
At the same time, answering the question whether the beginning of the dialogue between Armenia and the EU on simplifying the visa regime depends on the signing of the framework agreement, the expert noted that these are two different processes, however, there can be some kind of relationship. "Even if a dialogue on the liberalization of the visa process is announced after the Brussels summit of the Eastern Partnership, we should not expect momentary decisions." The negotiation process will last 3-4 years at least, as it will be necessary to harmonize the legislation and there will not be a number of delays," Iskandaryan said.
