ArmInfo. Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan, who is in Uzbekistan on a visit, held a meeting with his Uzbek counterpart Abdullah Aripov on November 3.
According to the press service of the Armenian government, during the meeting Karen Karapetyan noted that Armenia is interested in activating interstate relations with Uzbekistan. According to the Armenian premier, the parties should intensify contacts at the level of the business community, chambers of commerce and industry, professional development agencies. In this context, the importance of establishing an intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation was stressed. Karen Karapetyan also pointed to the prospects for the free trade zone created on the border with Iran.
During the meeting, the interlocutors discussed the possibilities of interaction in the tourism sphere, and in this context the need was noted for establishing a direct air service between Yerevan and Tashkent, as well as opening diplomatic missions.
Karen Karapetyan and Abdullah Aripov agreed to give a new impetus to bilateral relations, which will lead to the activation of not only political, but also economic ties.
Tonight, the Armenian premier will meet with the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirzieyem.
