ArmInfo. Armenia's obligations under the framework agreement with the EU can in no way contradict the commitments previously assumed by Yerevan in other integration associations. Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan stated this in an interview with bfm.ru.
"This agreement has been quite objectively commented on in the Russian press over the last month, in which everything is described in detail, in fact, it is the deepening of cooperation with the EU, first of all, the modernization of our society, where there is effective management, human rights, the economy is almost irrelevant. , because there, in fact, is an item according to which the obligations under this agreement in no way can contradict the obligations that Armenia assumed earlier on other integration associations," explained Sargsyan.
The Armenian President underlined that in Armenia those laws, those agreements, treaties that Yerevan signs within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union will operate. "Russia is a member of the WTO, we are a WTO member, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan. In the end, I think the Eurasian Economic Union will come to the point when will act according to the rules of the World Trade Organization, according to the rules by which Europeans work now. There, of course, are other points: technical rules, much more ... But there is nothing contradictory to the EAEU," the President said.
Touching upon the common customs policy of the Eurasian Union and the existing problems, Sargsyan noted that the issues can certainly arise: "We have different countries, different opportunities." On the other hand, if you want to take advantage of a large market, you should in some way go to concessions, but these are temporary phenomena, I think that in the end, we will come to the level of tariffs that we have with the WTO, I repeat: Russia is a member of the WTO, we are also. Yes, each of our countries received different tariffs at different times, but still it will not be am obstacle for economic development That is the benefit of this entire complex is greater than the damage done by the individual (the issues, attitudes)", he concluded.
On 24 November in Brussels at the Eastern Partnership Summit of the EU, it is planned to sign a new framework agreement Armenia-European Union.
