ArmInfo. Armenian parliamentarians prevented Pakistan from another attempt to participate in the session of CSTO PA as an observer, which was held in St. Petersburg on October 13.
According to ArmInfo sources, the Pakistani delegation received an invitation from the Chairman of the State Duma of Russia Vyacheslav Volodin to attend the CSTO PA meeting as an observer. However, thanks to the efforts of Armenia's diplomatic community, this decision was revised, and the Pakistani delegation was forced to return home from the London airport, where it intended to fly to St. Petersburg.
It is noteworthy that in this regard, the Pakistani delegation did not participate in the meeting of the Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, of which it is a member and which was held these days in St. Petersburg.
It should be noted that this is Pakistan's second attempt to participate in the meeting of the CSTO PA as an observer with far-reaching plans for associative membership in this organization. But even this time, Pakistan's past attempt was also thwarted by the efforts of Armenian diplomatic circles. Pakistan is the only country that did not recognize Armenia's independence, and in the Karabakh settlement it takes a clear pro-Azerbaijani stance.
