ArmInfo. Armenia will establish responsibility for obstructing the activities of a medical worker. The corresponding draft amendments to the RA Criminal Code on the protection of the life and health of medical workers was approved at a meeting of the Armenian government on October 19.
According to the amendments, the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia will be supplemented with new articles, which criminalize obstruction of the lawful professional activity of doctors. It is proposed to fix the punishment for obstructing the activity of the medical worker by threatening, retaining and creating obstacles for the medical worker to provide assistance to the patient.
The bill establishes responsibility for the infliction of bodily injuries or the expression of threats to murder by medical personnel. In the event of obstruction of the medical worker's activity through the use of violence that is not harmful to life and health or the threat of such a person, a fine of 300 to 500 times the minimum monthly wage is established. If the act is committed with the use of violence dangerous to life and health or the threat of such a punishment is established in the form of arrest for a period of 1 to 2 months or imprisonment from 2 to 5 years.
Note that the number of attacks on health workers in the performance of their official duties is steadily growing. As a result of the adoption of the bill, the legislator hopes to guarantee the protection of the rights and interests of the health worker.
