ArmInfo.Speaker of the Armenian Parliament Ara Babloyan, during his visit to St. Petersburg, met with his colleagues from Kuwait Marzuk Ali al-Ghanim.
According to the press service of Armenian Parliament, Babloyan stressed that development of multisectoral relations with the Arab world among the priorities of the Armenian foreign policy. The sides noted the recently intensified political dialogue between the two countries, which is a solid foundation and guarantee for the development and strengthening of interstate relations in various fields.
The heads of the legislative bodies of the Republic of Armenia and Kuwait stressed the need for deepening inter-parliamentary relations, the activities of parliamentary friendship groups, and effective interaction on international platforms.
The parties also exchanged opinion on revitalizing trade-economic relations and expressed hope on productive use of existing non implemented potential.
On the same day, Babloyan held a meeting with the head of the Serbian parliament, Maya Gojkovich, during which he stressed the need for consistent improvement of bilateral relations, taking into account the long history of Armenian-Serbian friendly relations. The Speaker of the Armenian Parliament stressed the importance of forming an active dialogue between the legislative bodies of the two countries, exchanging visits of parliamentary friendship groups that can contribute not only to the development of bilateral cooperation but also to the interaction and concerted work of Armenia and Serbia in international structures on a number of issues.
Speaking about regional problems, Babloyan reaffirmed the commitment of the Armenian side to the settlement of the Karabakh conflict exclusively by peaceful means through negotiations within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group. "Our country attaches importance to the implementation of activities aimed at creating an atmosphere of mutual trust: the withdrawal of snipers from the line of contact, the introduction of mechanisms for investigating incidents, the application of efforts to strengthen the ceasefire regime," said the head of the legislative body of Armenia.In turn, Gojkovich also stressed the need to deepen the inter-parliamentary cooperation between the two countries, and to interact at various venues.
Speaking about the Karabakh conflict, the head of the Serbian Parliament stated that Serbia supports Armenia's position on the peaceful settlement of the Karabakh conflict. The parties noted the importance of deepening cooperation between the two states in different spheres. Gojkovich invited Babloyan to Serbia.
