ArmInfo. Armenia never makes impossible promises. Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian stated this at the Armenia-Diaspora forum, speaking about the integration policy of the republic.
According to him, at one time the republic joined the Eurasian Economic Union, as she received such a proposal. At the same time, he noted, Armenia did not intend to refuse to sign an associative agreement with the European Union. <However, in Brussels we were told that after joining the EEU it is not possible. This was strange for me, and I asked how from the EU they know whether Armenia's membership in the EEU is compatible with the association agreement, when it is not yet known what the EEU is. We even offered to sign only the political aspect of the document, but in Brussels it was said that this is a single treaty and it can not be divided. Although only his political part was subsequently signed with Ukraine," Nalbandian explained, assuring that Armenia had never kept its actions secret from its partners. He stressed that Armenia aspires to the closest relations with all, but taking into account the fact that Russia is its partner, and this, according to Nalbandian, has a profound meaning. "Membership in the EEU derives from the economic and strategic interests of Armenia, but at the same time it strives to build relationships in other vectors, as far as possible. I do not see any contradictions here," Nalbandian said.
