ArmInfo.. A meeting was held in the Armenian government the day before, held by Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan. The meeting discussed issues related to the work to eliminate the consequences of major fires that erupted in the Khosrov Forest, on the territory adjacent to the Artavan community in Vayots Dzor and the Yerevan Nairit plant, to implement measures to prevent possible fires, and to properly control the territories.
According to the press service of the Armenian government, Karapetyan noted the importance of coordinated activities of agencies and the implementation of a clear policy on the prevention of such disasters. In the opinion of the prime minister, it is necessary to develop appropriate mechanisms for proper control over forests and fire hazardous territories. Karen Karapetyan instructed to form a commission with the participation of specialists from interested departments, which will study the current situation and make specific proposals for solving problems. According to the head of government, in order to keep the situation under control and properly respond to possible challenges, each agency should be ready and act effectively.
The head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Armenia David Tonoyan, in turn, reported that a discussion was held around possible causes of fires. In order to strengthen the protection of the territory of the Khosrov Forest, Tonoyan suggested placing on the roads near the entrance and exit and on the trails of the video camera. According to him, the hot climate created favorable conditions for the fire in the reserve, because of which the grass cover was completely devoid of moisture. In order to provide land with humidity in such conditions, Tonoyan suggested setting up a working group, which will include relevant specialists from the concerned departments. The head of the Ministry of Emergency Measures reported that the possible causes of the fire at the Nairit plant were also studied, all the existing problems were considered. He stressed the lack of a cooling system for reserves at the plant, the issue of pesticides left over from the old times, etc.
To solve the problem on a comprehensive basis, the minister suggested setting up an interdepartmental commission with the involvement of specialists from the Ministry of Energy Infrastructures and Natural Resources, the Ministry of Nature Protection, the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the plant "Nairit". Minister of Nature Protection of Armenia Artsvik Minasyan also acted as a part of the environmental task, which arose as a result of fires. The head of the Government, in general, approved the submitted proposals and gave specific instructions to relevant departments, including minimizing the risks of fires in the republic, developing and refining the forest management policy.
