Visit of Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan to Iran will give a new impetus to the expansion of bilateral relations and their development, taking into account also Armenian-Iranian historical and cultural communities. The head of the Islamic Republic of Iran Hassan Roukhani stated at the meeting with Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan.

In his turn, President Sargsyan stated with satisfaction that for  this period it is managed to develop and strengthen mutually  beneficial cooperation in all spheres. 

Presidents of the two countries during the meeting discussed a wide  range of issues related to both bilateral and multilateral  cooperation. The interlocutors expressed the common opinion that  there is a great potential in the Armenian-Iranian economic  relations, in the direction of effective use of which it is necessary  to continue consistent work. According to the presidents, this will  help revive the trade turnover between the two countries and increase  investment.

The presidents both stressed the importance of major projects  implemented in a number of industries and the implementation of new  and promising programs. The issue was especially about energy, the  importance of using international transport and transit routes  connecting the Persian Gulf and the Black Sea across the territory of  Armenia and Iran was also stressed. The sides drew attention to the  development of cooperation in the trilateral  Iran-Armenia-Turkmenistan format.

The sides stressed the importance of negotiations between Islamic  Republic of Iran and Eurasian Economic Union over the free trade  agreement. President of Iran noted that significant steps have been  made in this direction and stressed that the signing of the agreement  in the near future will be quite fruitful.

Hassan Rohani appreciated the cancellation of exit and entry visas  initiated by Armenia, which was an important step from the point of  view of expanding business ties, stimulating entrepreneurship,  investment and tourism.

The parties referred to  the issues of regional security, including  the negotiation process on the Nagorno- Karabakh conflict. President  Serzh Sargsyan presented the current state of the process and  Armenia's position on the peaceful settlement of the conflict through  negotiations within the framework of the co- chairmanship in OSCE  Minsk Group.

Iranian President stressed that the settlement of NK conflict can be  only political, and regional peace and stability are important for  his country. 

To note, Serzh Sargsyan interrupted his vacation to participate in  the inauguration ceremony of the Iranian president. In this regard,  Rouhani stressed that Iran highly appreciates the presence of the  president of his good neighbor - Armenia at the inauguration  ceremony.
