ArmInfo. It's not a secret for anyone that for Armenia, cooperation with NATO is of a commercial nature. The director of the EurAsEC Institute Vladimir Lepekhin told ArmInfo about it."Russia, of course, is dissatisfied with NATO's activity on its borders, but this displeasure has nothing to do with the participation of the Armenian military in the exercises in Georgia." In Moscow, it refers to this, let's say, with understanding. Sun in exchange for participation in the exercises in Vaziani, in my opinion, these funds will help the Armenian military to solve certain problems, "he said.
The Armenian Armed Forces are represented at the NATO exercise "Noble Partner 2017", the "Worthy Partner - 2017", which was launched in Georgia by a platoon of 40 people. The exercises started at the Vaziani training ground in Georgia on July 30 and will end on August 13. A total of 3,000 military personnel from 8 countries came to the exercise: five NATO countries: the United States, Great Britain, Germany, Slovenia, Turkey and three allied countries: Ukraine, Armenia and Georgia. About 1,600 American, as well as 800 Georgian servicemen take part in the exercises.
"In my opinion, the multi-vector policy proclaimed by Yerevan is absolutely correct and is its right, Armenia today effectively maintains the status of a sovereign state, with the help, including cooperation with various military alliances," he stressed.According to Lepekhin, in Moscow in general, the observed activity of the Alliance is relatively calm, especially given that this activity is leading to the collapse of NATO in the future.
In his opinion, there is nothing terrible in the participation of Armenia in NATO exercises on the territory of neighboring Georgia. Strict statements by some Russian politicians and experts who criticize Yerevan for participating in NATO exercises are, according to his estimates, exceptionally on-duty.Noble Partner 2017 is part of the European Command in the Black Sea region, the continuation of Saber Guardian, in Bulgaria, Romania and Hungary and Sea breeze in Ukraine. Noble Partner was first held in Georgia in 2015. In 2016, 1,300 servicemen from the United States, Georgia, Great Britain took part in the exercise.
The exercises are envisaged as part of the training program for the military of the Georgian Armed Forces and NATO countries as units of the NATO Response Force and to improve the compatibility of the Georgian Armed Forces with NATO units.
