ArmInfo.In Volgograd, the meeting of Joint Collegium of Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia and Police of Armenia was held. The collegium was conducted by the Russian MIA, police general Vladimir Kolokoltsev and the head of Police of Armenia, colonel-general of the police Vladimir Gasparyan.
According to Russian MIA press service, in his speech, the head of the Russian department dwelled on topical issues of cooperation between law enforcement agencies of the two countries. He noted that the established mechanisms for inter-agency cooperation are quite in demand, and the main result has been achieved - maintaining stability and law and order at the territories of the two states. The Joint Collegium makes a significant contribution to the overall results of the fight against crime. "The implementation of decisions taken at its meetings makes it possible to increase the effectiveness of joint actions, to identify and eliminate emerging problems in time," the minister added.
Pointing out the main issues on the agenda, the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia drew attention to the state of cooperation in combating common criminal criminality, calling this topic one of the most urgent at this stage.
According to Kolokoltsev, citizens of Armenia annually commit from two to two and a half thousand socially dangerous acts, almost half of which are thefts, robberies, fraud and drug trafficking. "On the other hand, every year about 600-700 unlawful encroachments against citizens of this country are registered. Timely provision of mutual legal assistance significantly facilitates and accelerates the disclosure and investigation of such acts, "Kolokoltsov is convinced.
Also, the head of Russian MIA noted that as a result of joint events held previous year, a number of crimes committed by organized groups were revealed. Systemic character is also the work of searching for the accused and missing persons who disappeared from the court and investigation. As a result of joint efforts, only for the last year and the first quarter of this year, the law enforcement agencies of Russia installed 56 criminals and 5 missing persons who were declared wanted by Armenia.
Special attention at the meeting of Joint Collegium was paid to counteract illegal trafficking in narcotic drugs. Kolokoltsev stressed that as a result of the regional anti-drug operation "Channel" from May 29 to June 2 this year, the Russian side instituted 2,200 criminal cases, identified almost 400 drug crimes. In general, according to the Russian minister, the achieved level of cooperation allows fulfilling the operational and official tasks. At the same time, he suggested discussing existing problems, including improving the effectiveness of joint activities and improving the detection of common crimes.
At the end of the meeting, the parties discussed the work plan of Joint Collegium of Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs and Police of Armenia for the next year.
