ArmInfo. IT sector hinders the development of natural sciences in the Republic as there is no requirement of a higher specialized qualification to work in this sector, meanwhile the salaries there are higher. The Minister of Education and Science Levon Mkrtchyan expressed this opinion today at the budget hearings in the Armenian parliament.
According him, they come to IT sector from the sector of natural sciences with higher qualifications but time passes and they loose their skills by performing work of a lower qualification, but with higher salary. "We must improve this situation, must motivate the specialists in working in natural sciences sector", the minister stated.
In his turn, the Chairman of the State Committee on Science Samvel Harutyunyan informed that currently in the Republic a deficit of scientists of 35-50 years old is obvious, as in majority cases they find a work abroad for batter salary. At the same time he assured that the deficit of young scientists in Armenia is not so visible now. "Nowadays more then 30% of scientific projects in Armenia is headed by young scientists under 35", he said.
