ArmInfo. Ankara condemns and resolutely rejects the position of the members of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives of the US Congress, where the draft resolution on anti-Turkish content was approved the day before, Hussein Muftuoglu, representative of the Turkish Foreign Ministry said.
The Diplomat reminded that despite multiple requests of the Turkish side to the American Authorities to take additional measures to ensure security of the Turkish Embassy in Washington in the period of Erdogan's visit to USA. "All these as a result created conditions for provocations by a group of supporters of KLP terrorists under the walls of the diplomatic mission. The questions about why the US authorities did not take steps for security remain open. The reasons of aggressive actions if the US security service agents near the Embassy caused official protest of the Turkish MFA", Muftuoglu said, Anadolu reports.
At the same time he emphasized that the actions of the House of Representatives of the US Congress are aimed at the change of the agenda on bilateral relations. "The American legislators try to mistreat the public opinion from the reality. However, this try does not support the progress of the processes and problem solving. Turkey has hopes that the positive atmosphere created through the Turkish President's visit will remain unchanged in USA", the Diplomat summed up.
In the eve, in the US House of Representatives, House Resolution 354 was presented, regretting the violent actions of Turkish security forces of the Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan against peaceful demonstrators in front of the Turkish Embassy in Washington. The document also notes that this is the third case of violence by security personnel of the Turkish leader in the United States. Congressmen emphasize that all those Turkish officials who participated in the riots opposite the Turkish Embassy in Washington on May 16 of this year should be punished according to US laws. The authors of the resolution also express concern over the growing authoritarianism in Turkey and urge Washington to take measures to promote the protection of freedom of speech and civil society in that country.
