ArmInfo.In the capital's school named after Bulgarian poet Peyo Yavorov  was celebrated the Day of Bulgarian Enlightenment and Culture and Slavonic Literacy.

At the opening of the solemn event, the Ambassador of Bulgaria to  Armenia Maria Pavlova Tsotsorkova- Kaymakchieva stated that in the  calendar of national holidays of the states there are many holidays  dedicated to military leaders and state officials, but there are  few  cases when  spiritual victories achievements in knowledge and writing  are being celebrated,. "There are not many the nations  who consider  the saints to give them writing. For this reason, we, Bulgarians,  proudly celebrate this holiday - the Day of Bulgarian Enlightenment  and Culture and the Slavonic  Literacy. For the Bulgarian people,  this holiday has a special significance and reflects our thirst for  knowledge and enlightenment, enriching people and opening  new  horizons , "the diplomat said. She added that Bulgarians are very  similar to Armenians, and the monument to educator Mesrop Mashtots in  front of  the Institute of Ancient Manuscripts by Matenadaran  witnesses  the special attitude of Armenians and Bulgarians towards  knowledge and culture.

According to her, the holiday of Cyril and Methodius(creators of  Slavonic alphabet and language-editor's notes) in Bulgaria are being  celebrated with special respect. She also expressed gratitude to the  teachers of the school named after Yavorov and pupils, who every year  celebrate this day with Bulgarian people in Yerevan. 

After Ambassador's speech, the pupils of N131 school performed Cyril  and Methodius performance in three languanges- Armenian, Russian and  Bulgarian, poems of Bulgarian poet Yavorov were read, including well  known writing dedicated to Armenian Armetsi. 

The event was attended by the Ambassadors  of Lithuania, Czech  Republic, Poland, representatives of the UN, Yerevan City  Administration, the regional administration.
