ArmInfo.Serzh Sargsyan, the President of Armenia on April 3 met the delegation of CIS observing mission led by Sergey Lebedev, CIS General Secretary, who came to observe the duration of the parliamentary elections.
As the press-office of the Government Head informed ArmInfo, Sargsyan greeted the mission in Armenia, thanked for active observing participation during the elections.
The President expressed confidence that the professional group of CIS will present balanced, detached final report on the results of the elections, will sound its estimates, notes and advices, which will promote unstoppable development of electoral processes in Armenia.
Serzh Sargsyan stressed several times the importance of parliamentary elections, conducted after constitutional reforms implemented and noted that with the aim of conducting them in accordance to international criteria, very big preparative work has been done with the help of active participation of civil society, political forces, partner organizations and entities Armenia comes to a new Governmental system, and according to Sargsyan it is very important the conducted elections inspire confidence by the quality to the citizens of Armenia and all the partners.
Earlier it was noted that according to mission representatives' admittance, technical novelties, in a way, made the process of choosing for the people more complicated, especially for elders, preparation works, however, minimized them. And the registered shortcomings, according to him, did not have significant role. "According to our assets, those technical novelties in electoral code made the process more transparent and maximally hard to falsification. It means the task set by the authorities is achieved the best", he stated. As a result, according to mission, the elections were held calmly and organized. "In a way, the Armenian colleagues even overcame some European states, which are trying to teach us democracy", noted Lebedev, adding that the Armenian experience should be used in CIS states.
