ArmInfo. Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian received a group of parliamentarians from the European Parliament who arrived in the republic to monitor parliamentary elections as part of an observation mission from the European Parliament.
As the press service of the Armenian Foreign Ministry told ArmInfo, the sides exchanged views on preparations for the April 2 parliamentary elections. In this context, Nalbandian noted that after the constitutional reforms, in order to maximize public confidence in the electoral processes, with parliamentary political factions, and with the involvement of representatives of civil society, agreements were reached on making amendments to the Electoral Code.
During the meeting, steps were taken to strengthen the Armenia-EU relations, as well as issues related to parliamentary cooperation. The two sides expressed their mutual satisfaction with the completion of the negotiations between Armenia and the EU around a new agreement on a deep and expanded partnership.
Nabandyan presented Armenia's position on a number of topical regional and international issues. The Armenian Minister spoke about the efforts of Armenia and the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group aimed at promoting the peace process on the Karabakh settlement.
