View from Washington: The Karabakh conflict being unsolved is preconditioned by contradictions between Armenia and Azerbaijan leaders with the interests of simple people.
ArmInfo.Karabakh conflict being unsolved is preconditioned by contradictions between Armenia and Azerbaijan leaders with the interests of simple people. Such a statement was made by Nikolay Zlobin, the president and the Founder of the Global Studies Center (Washington D.C.)
In this meaning the reason of Karabakh problem being unsolved is in the absence of political shape of human choice idea. The things desired by people not by authorities. In my opinion, the self determination of nations, of course, prevails on the immunity and territorial integrity of any state. Being a liberal, I am sure that people are more important than the power, and if they want to live how they want to, no one should raise obstacles for that - in Crimea, in Karabakh or anywhere else," he accentuated.
Hence, according to Zlobin, the problem is not in the armaments supplied to Azerbaijan, but in the absence of intellectual idea of exit from the dead end capsulated around Nagorno Karabakh. Mentioning the armaments global market being open, the expert mentioned that the main reason of mutual understanding absence between Baku and Yerevan is absolutely not the Russian armaments supplies.
The transformation of the conflict into burning phase strictly contradicts to the interests of Russia. It is obvious that getting one more fire at southern borders in not of Russia's interests and profit. And here I would like to mention the expedient manner of Moscow actions in respect to armaments sales and final beneficiaries of that," the political expert mentioned.
According to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute, in 2012-2016 the armaments purchases of Azerbaijan exceeded Armenin puchases in 20 times. Azerbaijan, with its 4%, entered the first five of countries buying the main part of Russian armaments export volumes: India (38%), Vietnam (11%), China (11%) and Algeria (10%). The Russian share in global armaments export formed 23%.
