ArmInfo. The Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, who is on an official visit in France, visited Lyon, where he met with the mayor of the city Gerard Colombe.
As the press service of the Armenian leader told ArmInfo, before the meeting Sargsyan visited the Bellecure square and laid flowers at the memorial to the victims of the Armenian Genocide.
During the meeting with Colombe, Sargsyan expressed the confidence that, considering one of the best cities in France, Lyon develops from year to year, which is certainly a personal achievement of the mayor, as he devoted a significant part of his life to this city. The Armenian president said that he was informed about the care with which the mayor treats the problems of Armenians living in Lyon and expressed gratitude for it. He also assured that Kolombe's efforts to strengthen friendly relations between the two peoples and the principled position on the Armenian Genocide issue are not overlooked.
The states discussed the issues of decentralized cooperation, as well as interaction in the scientific and educational, economic and other areas.
The Armenian President also left a note in the book of honorable guests of the Lyon City Hall. Sargsyan awarded the Mayor of Lyon with the Medal of Honor for his contribution to the development and strengthening of the Armenian-French friendly relations.
