ArmInfo. The ruling Republican Party of Armenia will conduct a correct election campaign and the political struggle, based on the ideology and programs. Said the vice- speaker of the Armenian parliament and RPA Press Secretary Eduard Sharmazanov in an interview with ArmInfo correspondent, commenting on the statement of the second president Robert Kocharyan that it is a fight of purses, not ideologies.
"Considering the fact that the respected second president did not want to participate in the political process and to evaluate them, and I will refrain from further comment on its application. However, it is worth noting that the Electoral Code, which he subjected to merciless criticism, was adopted with the exclusive consensus and consolidation, not only by pro-governmental but also the oppositional forces, therefore, it creates good prerequisites for conducting fair and democratic elections, contrary to the predictions of the second president", said Republican.
Sharmazanov also said that as the leader of the Republican Party and President Serzh Sargsyan and the first number of the list, the defense minister Vigen Sargsyan and Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan has repeatedly claimed that the election campaign of the Republicans will be correct, and the political struggle will be based on party ideology and programs presented by it.
To the ArmInfo correspondent's remark if the clashes between Republicans in different polling stations proof the fact that when the ranking system interparty competition gives way to the interpersonal struggle, as stated by Robert Kocharian, Sharmazanov assured: "The candidates from the Republican Party do not compete with each other, on the contrary, they are doing everything to bring more votes to the party". He added that the electoral processes are always accompanied by a certain tension, but it is not the result of differences between the Republicans.
To note, Robert Kocharyan, the second President of Armenia stated to 2rd.am that being well informed about current situation and processes, he has no wish to participate in those or comment on those anyway. He noted also that considers the Constitution reforms of 2015 a great mistake, which will have a long lasting negative impact on Armenia. " The new electoral code with its rating (territorial) based form of elections will support the negative flows, which are peculiar to electoral processes in Armenia. In essence , due to new Electoral Code, the majority based system of elections dominates on proportional, the inter- party competition turns into the struggle of persons, driving to zero the advantages of pre-electoral struggle. It is obvious that a struggle of money will be launched, especially within the consideration of the fact that many voters are in very hard social conditions and will not hesitate to participate in this voices auction," Kocharyan stated.
