Upon the fact that Azerbaijan declared internationally wanted a number of MEPs Elaine Teoharius, Frank Engel and Jaromir Stetina for the implementation of the observation mission during constitutional referendum in Nagorno Karabakh, Co-Chairman of Armenia-EU commission for cooperation Samvel Faramnyan and head of the Armenian delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly Evranest "Eastern Partnershop" of EU Artak Zakaryan with letters addressed the factions and the head of the European Parliament Antonio Tayaani, members of the Bureau of PA Evranest, representatives of the Commission on EU-Armenia cooperation.
In the letters, in particular, it is stated that such actions of Azerbaijan are aimed at limiting not only the MEPs mandate, but also their personal rights and freedoms. "Such actions of Azerbaijan are a threat to the democratic and European values", is said in the letter. The authors called on international bodies to give an adequate response to Baku actions.
To note, Azerbaijan has declared internationally wanted three MEPs for their implementation of the observation mission during constitutional referendum in Nagorno-Karabakh. However, as the Prosecutor General of Armenia explains, the Interpol Code forbids prosecuting the individual, on the basis of his nationality, race, and political views.
