ArmInfo. The Milan Court made a decision to prosecute charges of bribery from Azerbaijan against ex-deputy Luca Volonte, told "Corriere della Sera".
"None of European parliamentarians denies that received at least a can of Caspian caviar from Azerbaijani colleagues. But those are nothing against what Luca Volonte received while heading the biggest faction in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe – "European People's Party". He received from Azerbaijani deputy and lobbyist Suleymanov a "gift" of 10mln EUR, receiving 100thsd EUR per month. Both the sender in Azerbaijan and the receiver in Italy were NGOs, which had as main activity the human rights protection. The money were set on anonymous accounts, registered in Belize, in Seychelles and the Virgin Islands", writes the pub.. The Court intends to find out if Volonte passed any of that money to his PACE colleagues to influence on their votes on the resolution about the human rights in Azerbaijan.
