ArmInfo."The world can only applaud when captured/arrested are treated with dignity/respect. Needs to be mutual, though," former US Ambassador to Armenia John Evans tweeted, when commenting on the meeting of the Artsakh Republic Human Rights Defender Ruben Melikyan with Azerbaijani raider Elnur Husseinzade, who was captured on February 1 during the failed Azerbaijani sabotage attack.
To note, Artsakh Republic Human Rights Defender Ruben Melikyan visited the Azerbaijani raider on Feb 3 and handed the European Convention on Human Rights over to him in the Azerbaijani language. The raider himself explained no complaints about his health condition or any mistreatment. To recall, on Feb 1 the Karabakh troops suppressed another attempted sabotage attack mounted by the Azeri armed forces. The Azeri raiders tried to take advantage of the foggy weather, but the detachments of the NKR Defense Army fixed the displacement of the Azeri special detachments in due time and took relevant measures, forcing the enemy to retreat. As a result, the forward detachments of the NKR Defense Army captured Elnur Husseinzade, an Azeri serviceman (born in 1995, native of Bard town). The source reports that at least one Azeri serviceman was wounded.
To remind, John Evans was recalled as the U.S. Ambassador to Armenia after a private meeting with the representatives of the Armenian community, where he qualified the events of 1915 in Ottoman Turkey as genocide against Armenians.
