ArmInfo. The US will not promote democracy in Eurasian space during Donald Trump`s presidency, according to Fyodor Lukyanov, Editor-in-Chief of Russia in Global Politics Magazine, Chairman of the Russian Council for Foreign and Defense Policy.
"I think this phase was over as soon as the Administration was changed. However, during Trump's presidency, the US will do other things and we won't like most of these things. At the same time, I can say that Russia's influence on the international arena keeps growing intrinsically, regardless of participation in certain conflicts.
The analyst explains such trends with the growth of diversity and population in the world amid the lack of a single global regulator. Under such conditions, the powerful countries like Russia become one of the regulators that come to an agreement with each other.
Lukyanov also says that Russia's initiative to create the Eurasian Union is of great importance but the initiative is still being implemented. He thinks the current EEU is the changing reality and it is far from being what it was meant to be.
"Amid the current global trends, it appears that one cannot imagine the structure of the Eurasian space without China's participation. Today China is a new factor, which the EEU should take into account and it actually does," the analyst says.
