ArmInfo. In the run-up to Christmas, ArmInfo conducted a survey with Parliament credential reporters of 20 media outlets (TV channels, dailies and weeklies, news agencies and network websites) to find out the perfect national lawmaker.
The respondents were asked eight questions and offered to choose among 16 candidates (several lawmakers from every parliamentary faction and independent lawmakers). At that, all the respondents in every category could propose their own candidate once they have had our pretenders denied.
So, here we go: In the category “ The media-transparent lawmaker”, following the wording of American “ the Oscar goes to”, is Edward Sharmazanov. According to the opinion of reporters’ majority, for them the Vice Speaker is exactly the most familiar lawmaker. Sharmazanov is followed by Hovhannes Sahakyan, the State and Regulatory Issues Permanent Commission Chairman, which, following the reporters’ confessions, totally derives from low parliamentary culture with his refined manner of communication with journalists.
The “Ultimately active lawmaker” category all the credits of press tribes were won by lawmaker Nikol Pashinyan. Journalists were especially inspired with his sharp-witted speeches, often demoralizing his colleagues from the ruling party and government members.
The most hardworking lawmaker is Hovhannes Sahakyan, which, following the media employees’ definition, watches sensitively all the draft regulations to conform the spirit and letter of the Constitution.
The Flair category victory was awarded to the very Speaker of Armenian Parliament Galust Sahakyan, whose nick in media world is Maestro – for his unique, philosophy-oriented sentences incomprehensive for lesser mortals possessing modest mind.
Maestro is recognized by media chieftains also as the most quick-witted lawmaker of the year. According to media reporters, the quotes of Sahakyan’s interviews and speeches turn into proverbial sentences and fun show riders.
It was a pretty hard job for one of most intellectual occupations assignees to choose the most intellectual lawmaker, confessing that it is not an easy task to make such a choice within Armenian Parliament. However, after long discussions the category was conquered by Republican Samvel Farmanyan. Armenian media avant-garde especially liked Farmanyan’s sophisticated answers at the “Who? Where? When?” polymath show.
But the hardest choice for the parliamentary reporters guildship was to determine Mister Charm. Most of them stated the opinion there are no charming lawmakers at Armenian Parliament at all. Just to be honest, one should note that lawmakers themselves have a similar view to journalists, so the situation is leg in leg here. All in all, picking among few answers voicing certain names, the porize of Mr. Charm was taken by Tigran Urikhanyan, the Alliance Party leader.
Instead, the winner of Antihero of the Year has been determined without hesitating. The grand majority of respondents stated Rouben Hakobyan having recently banged up the Hraparak weekly reporter Vahe Hakobyan. And this is the brightest expression of the reporters’ solidarity lacking in other professions.
It is remarkable that our survey helped to find out the very and best not only among national lawmakers, but the most sharp-witted among parliamentary reporters. The answers of three most cute wise farts of parliamentary journalism are as they follow below:
Armine Gevorgyan, Radio Lur News reporter:
1.The Most Transparent Lawmaker is Edward Sharmazanov for sure: he is always under availability coverage, and when he is not available due to any reasons, all the questions are answered by Gegham, his assistant. 2. The Most Active lawmaker is Zaruhi Postandjyan: her voice vibrations pass a special attractiveness to all the National Assembly sessions. 3. The Most Hardworking Lawmaker is Hovhannes Sahakyan: his office desk is always full of papers hiding the one who works with those. 4. The Most Flair Lawmaker is, of course, Seyran Saroyan: in four years he approached the speech desk only twice, but his speeches turned into quotations. 5. The Most Quick-Witted Lawmaker is again Edward Sharmazanov – he has dozens of sharp phrases. 6. The Most Charming is Tigran Urikhanyan: despite his parliamentary activity is hard to be logically justified, his charm is never a question. 7. The Antihero of the Year is Rouben Hakobyan: he was the first to raise a hand over journalists to teach them “good manners”. 8. The Intellectual of Parliament Mentality – there is a plenty of those, for instance – Arakel Movsisyan, Nahapet Gevorgyan, Mher Sedrakyan. And seriously – it is Aram Manoukyan, who teaches a lesson in Armenian language while delivering each and every speech.
Maria Asatryan, political observer at News.am:
1.The Most Transparent Lawmaker is Edward Sharmazanov: he is available for journalists 24-7, and if journalists become unavailable for him, he finds them out wherever they are, and makes comments – no matter whether you need it or not. 2. The Most Active lawmaker is Nikol Pashinyan. Actually, all the lawmakers are active, but Pashinyan’s batteries never get low. 3. The Most Hardworking Lawmaker is Galust Sahakyan: only an extremely “hardworking” man could occupy his post at his age, and only the results of hardest work do generate pearls destroying journalists’ brains. 4. The Most Flair Lawmaker is Hovhannes Margaryan: his charm of Gyumri resident is always with him. 5. The Most Quick-Witted Lawmaker – there is no humor of high fineness in Armenian Parliament, but many of lawmakers do their best. 6. The Most Charming Lawmaker is Tigran Urikhanyan. At least, he is confident he is, so we won’t let him be disappointed. 7. The Antihero of the Year is Rouben Hakobyan. Antihero, who made all journalists join. 8. Intellectual of Parliament Mentality: within the percentage view from 131 lawmakers there is 2% intellectuals. By the way, the intellect is a very conditional thing for the public mentality, hence Seyran Saroyan’s or Arakel Movsisyan’s wordings are accepted much easier and are more comprehensive for people than complicated sentences of some lawmakers with famous people quotes as “dressings”. Our colleague added a personal category of the Most Sex Appealed Male in the Parliament, and the winner is Arakel Movsisyan.

The Most Flair Lawmaker is Edward Sharmazanov: it would be nice to issue a brochure with quotations of ancient Greek and Roman philosophers sounded by him 5. The Most Quick-Witted Lawmaker is Galust Sahakyan, and that is not subject to comment 6. The Most Charming Lawmaker is – no reply. 7.The Antihero of the Year is Heghine Bisharyan, she’s nasty. 8.
