ArmInfo.The optimization of the healthcare sector over the past three months will make it possible to save over 2 billion AMD. This, in turn, will allow increasing the services by 30% in 2017, Armenian Deputy Minister of Health Samvel Margaryan said at a press conference on Dec 27, when summing up the results of the year.
The deputy minister said that in 2016 the budget of the healthcare sector amounted to 89 bln AMD, including 27 bln AMD for out-patient services. The Health Ministry's achievement in 2016 was the implementation of the healthy lifestyle strategy. In addition, an e-health system was introduced and it includes data about 470 employees (95%) of medical organizations that carry out state orders.
According to Health Minister Levon Altunyan, the mortality caused by heart attacks declined by 500 cases as compared to the previous year. At the same time, 1371 cases of salvage of lives were registered. As many as 3216 government-ordered heart surgeries were carried out (including 167 operations on children). Under government orders, 321,580 cases of medical assistance provision at hospitals were registered (including 86.5 thsd cases provided to children aged 0-18).
Altunyan added that the State Health Inspectorate of the Armenian Health Ministry conducted 316 administrative proceedings, including 34 based on complaints. As a result, penalties worth 13.3 mln AMD were imposed and 6.250 mln AMD was transferred to the budget.
The minister pointed out that to enhance the quality of medical services the Ministry is going to take consistent steps within the next two years, including legislative changes and revision of the price policy.
