ArmInfo.In secret closed voting the National Assembly of Armenia elected Artur Davtyan as Prosecutor General of Armenia with 97 "pros' and 3 "cons".
Several MPs from Prosperous Armenia and Armenian National Congress did not participate in the voting. Mainly Republican MPs voted for Davtyan. MP Tigran Urikhanyan informed that he voted against.
Earlier Prosecutor General Gevorg Kostanyan signed in resignation explaining his step with health problems. According to spread information Kostanyan will be appointed Armenia's Ambassador to Georgia replacing Yuri Vardanyan.
Artur Davtyan was born on December 8 1978 in Horom village of Shirak region of Armenia. On 22 June 2016 he was appointed Deputy Prosecutor General of Armenia. In 2013-2016 he was Yerevan's Prosecutor. In 2012-2013 Prosecutor of Shengavit district of Yervan, in 2006-2013 was holding various positions in the prosecutor's office. In 2000-2006 was teaching in Yerevan Pedagogical University.
