Vast majority of Armenian citizens link settlement of Karabakh  conflict with future of Armenia

ArmInfo.The overwhelming majority of the citizens of the Republic of Armenia consider the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict important for the future  of Armenia. This is evidenced by the results of a sociological study  conducted by the American International Republican Institute (IRI),  which was conducted in Armenia from November 22 to December 5, 2021.  The level of statistical error of the study, which covered 1512  respondents across the country, is +/- 2.5%.

ArmInfo.At the moment, meetings of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan in the format of the co-chairs of the OSCE  Minsk Group are not planned. However, a visit of the Co-Chairs of the  Minsk Group to the region is planned. Armenian Foreign Minister  Ararat Mirzoyan stated this on January 19 during the government hour  in the parliament.

ArmInfo.No one can guarantee that there will be no new war in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone. This cannot be guaranteed. Artsakh Foreign Minister David Babayan  stated this on January 19 during a press conference in Stepanakert  when asked to assess the threats of Azerbaijani President Ilham  Aliyev to unleash a third war. But, the chief diplomat of Artsakh  continued, there is a possibility of a war, but in this context, it  is very small.

ArmInfo.The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group should take tougher measures both on the issue of visiting Nagorno-Karabakh and on the final settlement of the  conflict, since they are endowed with an appropriate international  mandate. Artsakh State Minister Artak Beglaryan expressed a similar  opinion at a press conference in Stepanakert on January 18, referring  to the disrespectful attitude of the Azerbaijani President towards  the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs, including during the last interview.

According to head of the  "Hayastan" opposition faction, former Minister of Defense of Armenia  Seyran Ohanyan, the country's authorities are doing everything to  avoid public discussion of such a sensitive issue, as a result, the  public will learn about the agreements after the fact.
