ArmInfo. "Turkish democracy has been challenged again on July 15. The military coup d'etat was failed this time and much has been said about that bloody night in  Turkey. Overthrowing of a democratically elected government through  military coup is a devil for any democracy and Turkish people saved  the germs of democracy decisively," Samvel Farmanyan, a member of the  Armenian Delegation to PACE, made such remarks during a debate on the  situation in Turkey at the PACE Autumn Session.  

In an interview with ArmInfo, Russian political expert Andrey Areshev comments on the latest personnel reshuffle and appointments in the Armenian Government in the light of new opportunities of development of the Armenian-Russian relations. He also forecasts possible impulses around the Karabakh conflict, the balance of forces in the region and the Karabakh peace process with due regard for the supply of Iskander-M missile systems to Armenia and the influence of Russia and the United States on the parties.      

ArmInfo. PACE President Pedro Agramunt is going to initiate contacts between the Armenian and Azerbaijani delegations and discuss possibilities of promoting more constructive work at PACE. The statement came from Hermine  Naghdalyan, Head of the Armenian Delegation to PACE, Vice Speaker of  Armenian Parliament during her meeting with the Armenian delegates to  the Assembly.

ArmInfo. Armenia's Permanent  Representative to CoE Paruyr Hovhannisyan during his meeting with  PACE Secretary General Wojciech Sawicki stressed the importance of  the Assembly as a platform to discuss issues of all-European  importance.

 Mr. Ambassador, let us start with a traditional question. What is you assessment of the Armenian-Czech relations

Since the establishment of the diplomatic offices of Armenia and the Czech Republic in Yerevan and Prague, the Armenian-Czech relations have intensified and developed dynamically in the political, economic and humanitarian fields. As for the political relations, never before have they been at such a high level. In 2014, President of Armenia traveled to Prague, in 2015, the prime minister and defense minister paid visits to the Czech Republic. Earlier in 2012, the Armenian parliament speaker visited the country. The same tendency is observed on the Czech side. For instance, the foreign minister of the Czech Republic traveled to Yerevan in 2013 and 2015, the minister of industry and trade – in early February. The president and defense minister of the Czech Republic are expected to visit Armenia this June. Parliamentary delegations make mutual visits regularly. We will work to maintain this high level of cooperation in the future too.

It appears that the ‘stable standstill’ of the last years continues in Armenia, amid domestic policy and social-economic destabilization in both the neighbor countries and wider region. Is it the result of the government’s actions or the country is ‘going with the flow’
