The capture of Artsakh`s military-political leadership damaged the  Kremlin`s reputation - Levon Kocharyan

ArmInfo. The capture of the military-political leadership of Artsakh has damaged Moscow's reputation worldwide. Levon Kocharyan, a member of the parliamentary faction , stated this in a conversation with journalists in the National Assembly on January 20. He was responding to a question  about why, in his opinion, Russian President Vladimir Putin allowed  the capture of the former leadership of Artsakh. Despite the presence  of peacekeepers in the region and assurances of safety from the  Russians, these officials were ultimately captured.  Levon Kocharyan noted.

ArmInfo.Albert Bazeyan, the former Yerevan mayor, former vice- speaker of the parliament and  former vice-chairman of the Yerkrapah volunteer union, accused of attempting to seize power in the country by force, called the trial against him illegal, stating that the court is biased and unfair.

ArmInfo. Armenia awaits further unilateral territorial concessions, this time in the area of the village of Voskepar in the Tavush region, as stated by Garnik  Danielyan, an MP from the opposition faction <Hayastan>, during a  conversation with journalists on January 21.  According to him,  Azerbaijan is laying claim to certain sections of the Armenia-Georgia  interstate road. If the concerns of the opposition materialize, the  <Sacred Struggle> movement, which began before the delimitation  process on the Ksela Kirants section in Tavush, will resume protests.

Former Artsakh leaders` defense team filed a petition requesting a  change in the preventive measure to house arrest

ArmInfo.The defense team for former Artsakh leaders has filed a petition with the Baku court requesting a change in the preventive measure for their clients to house arrest, as reported by Azerbaijani media.  However, according to the information being circulated, former President of Artsakh Arayik Harutyunyan stated that neither he nor his lawyer had filed a petition for house arrest, nor did he have any complaints about his  health.

An operational meeting of the land forces was held under the leadership of the Defense  Minister, Zakir Hasanov in occupied Stepanakert on January 21.  According to the Azerbaijani media, citing the press service of the Ministry of Defense, the meeting discussed the current situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, as well as measures for  combat training of military units and the state of military discipline.

The National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia will discuss in the first reading the amendments to the laws "On  state registration of property rights" and "On the protection and use  of immovable historical and cultural monuments and the historical  environment" at the plenary session on January 21.

ArmInfo. The Russian side is currently working on arranging the visit of Valentina Matviyenko, the Chairperson of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, to Armenia. This was stated on January 21 by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov after discussions with  Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan in Moscow.  According to  him, Moscow expects that the 10th Armenian-Russian interregional  forum will be timed to coincide with this visit.

ArmInfo. The fate of 23 people missing as a result of the explosion at a fuel depot in Berkadzor on the Stepanakert-Askeran road, which occurred on September 25, 2023, will remain unknown. This is stated in a report prepared by the NGO "Center for International and Comparative Law".

ArmInfo. The militia system in Armenia will be replaced by local self-defense forces. The National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia discussed  amendments to the Law "On Defense" and a package of related acts submitted by the Government of the Republic of Armenia at a meeting on January 21.  Under the legislative changes, the territorial structures of the  militia will be dissolved, and  militia members will have the option  to voluntarily transfer to local self-defense systems. Recruitment  into the local forces may also include individuals who have reached  the age limit for conscription into the armed forces reserve.
