Orientalist: Detention of Istanbul`s opposition mayor is Turkish president`s election ploy

ArmInfo. The mayor of Istanbul,  Ekrem Imamoglu, is the most likely rival of Turkish President Tayyip  Erdogan, and his arrest yesterday fits in to the logic of the  incumbent president's pre-election strategy. This was stated by Ruben  Safrastyan, the chief researcher of the RA National Academy of  Sciences and an orientalist, in a conversation with an ArmInfo  correspondent,, in response to a request to assess the arrest of the  opposition mayor of Istanbul and the protests that have ensued in the  country as a result.

ArmInfo. On March 20, in Moscow, political consultations were held between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia and the Ministry of  Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation. Delegations were headed by  Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Mnatsakan Safaryan and Deputy  Foreign Minister of Russia Mikhail Galuzin.

NGO representative: Over 100,000 Artsakh residents at risk of losing their homes due to termination of support programs

ArmInfo. Over 100,000 Artsakh residents are at risk of losing their homes and therefore oppose the new support program and the termination of the current "40+10" thousand drams support starting from April 1. This was stated by Vladimir Grigoryan, Vice President of the "Generation of Hayk" NGO, at a press conference in Yerevan on March 19, touching upon the government's new program for social support of low-income families.

ArmInfo. On March 20, the Armenian government approved a legislative package regarding the organization of cultural auctions. As stated by the Minister of Education,  Science, Culture and Sports (MOESCS) Zhanna Andreasyan, the draft law  aims to introduce tools and mechanisms in the cultural sphere that  will enhance the significance of cultural activities in both public  and economic life.
