 The protests against Armenia's accession to the Customs Union and the visit of Vladimir Putin to Armenia were peaceful, but the authorities de-facto declared a state of emergency, Arthur Sakunts, the head of the Helsinki Citizens' Assembly Vanadzor Office, told reporters, Tuesday. 

He said that the authorities intentionally impeded peaceful protests not to disappoint 'father Putin.' 

"The Police of Armenia was informed of the peaceful assembly, but called it illegal," he said.  Sakunts said the activists will be consistent in their fight and will not end their protests unless 'illegitimate president' Serzh Sargsyan stops speaking on behalf of the people.

To recall, the Police detained over 110 activists protesting against the visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Armenia overnight.
