Ericsson and UCom to launch high-speed LTE network in Armenia

UCom Company will launch 4G/LTE network on the basis of Ericsson equipment on the whole territory of Armenia. As the press-service of Ericsson Company informed ArmInfo, UCom Telecommunication Company and Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERIC) signed a contract on development of 4G/LTE network throughout the territory of Armenia. Under the contract Ericsson will supply state of the art equipment of Ericsson Radio System, which works in different frequency ranges, AIR integrated antenna systems and Ericsson Expert Analytics system, a software suite, which enables operators to predict customer satisfaction and automatically take closed-loop actions to improve it. Ericsson Nikola Tesla, the Croatian affiliate of the Swedish telecommunications equipment manufacturer Ericsson is responsible for the project implementation. 

"4G/LTE will increase our network capacity. It will allow our subscribers to enjoy a seamless, high-speed mobile broadband experience with faster browsing, downloads and new services", said UCom CEO Hayk Yesayan. 

Armenia is undergoing digital transformation, innovative telecommunication services and solutions are available in the country, and there is also high demand on smart devices. Only networks ensuring the highest level of capacity can satisfy the growing demand. A network will be developed on the basis of LTE technology and Ericsson analytical system, which will allow UCom providing the services of the highest level to its customers, Head of Ericsson Customer Unit in Ukraine and Eurasia Wojciech Bajda said. 

According to Ericsson Mobility Report, the company is present in all the markets with high amount of LTE-traffic, including in the USA, Japan and South Korea. 40% of the world LTE traffic is ensured by the networks based on Ericsson equipment, which exceeds by 2-fold the indicators of its closest competitor.

o note, UCom Telecommunications provides Internet, IP television and landline digital telephony through a single broadband connection since 2009.  As of June 2015, the company has more than 100 000 subscribers and 800 employees. In 2015 UCom purchased 100% of shares of Orange Armenia and started providing mobile services.
