Deputy Head of the CCC: There is no reason to believe that Hayk  Harutyunyan was killed

ArmInfo. At the moment, there  is no reason to believe that the former police chief Hayk Harutyunyan  was killed. This was announced on September 25 in an interview with  reporters by the deputy head of the Special Investigation Service  (SIS-Red,) Vladimir Hovhannisyan.

 "In connection with the death of  ex-chief of police Hayk Harutyunyan, a criminal case was initiated  under the article <bringing to suicide>. As far as I know, there is  currently no reason to claim that there was a murder. But I assure  you, we will not leave one of the possible unverified versions. The  case was entrusted to the Investigative Committee of Armenia, "he  said.

Regarding the information that SAS head Sasun Khachatryan forced Hayk  Harutyunyan to give false testimony, Hovhannisyan stated: "This  information is not true, this is a lie."

Note that yesterday the body received information yesterday morning  that Hayk Harutyunyan was found dead in his mansion in Bjni.  According to the preliminary version, he shot himself; a Makarov  pistol and one sleeve were found.

Harutyunyan held the post of Minister of Internal Affairs of Armenia  in 2003-2008. He was held as a witness in the case of the events of  March 1, 2008. According to observers, Harutyunyan lost his seat as  the chief police officer of the country due to the dramatic events of  March 1-2, and which resulted in the death of 10 people in May 2008.  Later he was appointed head of the state security service, and two  years later - in 2010 - the head of the punishment service of the  Ministry of Justice.
