ArmInfo.The head of Armenia-EU inter-parliamentary cooperation, Sajjad Karim, expressed concern over the appeal on May 20 by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to his supporters calling for blocking all Armenian courts.The statement of the European deputy contains a reminder that on May 18 one of the Yerevan courts decided to change the preventive measure in relation to the ex-President of Armenia Robert Kocharian.
"Without excessive prejudice regarding the principle of intervention, we want to express our concern about the appeal of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to his supporters calling to block all Armenian courts," said the statement, which also expressed concern about the intentions of the authorities to introduce the idea of compulsory and universal vetting ."We understand that the politicization of judges is one of the key problems in Armenia. We rely on the competence of the authorities to adopt and implement structural reforms with the support of international partners, which will ensure transparency and efficiency of the judiciary without outside interference, which is a precondition for restoring confidence citizens to the judicial system, "- said in a statement.The MEP called on all Armenian government officials to show wisdom and restraint, as was the case during <velvetrevolution>, to act exclusively within the framework of its authority in accordance with the Constitution, to remain faithful to a clear andimpartial separation of powers between the legislative, executive and judicial branches.
