ArmInfo. Azerbaijan should inform the OSCE in advance of the exercises. This was announced on May 21 by Armenian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Anna Naghdalyan during a briefing in Yerevan.
According to her, the refusal of timely notification of upcoming exercises especially on such a scale is a gross violation of the organization's norms. At the same time, she assured that the Armenian side repeatedly expressed its concern and unacceptability in connection with the similar behavior of Azerbaijan. "In addition, such behavior does not contribute to the formation of an atmosphere conducive to peace. Armenia is confident in its forces. And this confidence will not only allow being committed to peace, but also act from the positions of peace," Naghdalyan concluded.
On May 20, in Azerbaijan, already the third from the beginning of the year large-scale operational and tactical exercises started with the involvement of various types of troops, military associations and units of the Azerbaijani army.
The main theme of the exercises is to repel the enemy's attack at night by delivering counterattacks in various directions, with the subsequent transition to the offensive of our troops. Up to 10 thousand soldiers, 150 units of tanks and other armored vehicles, up to 200 rocket and artillery installations of various calibers, multiple launch rocket systems and mortars, up to 35 aircraft and helicopters are involved in the exercises. It also became known that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will be watching the progress of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces exercises.
