ArmInfo. On May 20, from early morning, Armenian citizens blocked the entrance to the building of the Yerevan court of general jurisdiction of the Nor Nork community, which decided to release the former President of the Republic of Armenia Robert Kocharyan from custody.
Despite the pouring rain, dozens of demonstrators gathered outside the building, blocking the entrance, and thus protesting against the decision of the judicial authority. The head of the State Control Service, David Sanasaryan, who is currently suspended from his duties, is also there. In an interview with the Armenian service of Radio Liberty, he stated that, despite the refusal of the executive to interfere in the affairs of the judicial system, however, the system itself has not undergone recovery. "I am no longer an official, I am an ordinary citizen who is here to raise his voice of indignation at court actions. We will wait for the speech of the Prime Minister, during which, I think, program decisions will be voiced," said David Sanasaryan. He added that the second wave of revolution had begun in the republic, which should be brought to its logical conclusion.
It should be noted that buildings and other courts, including the Constitutional Court of Armenia, are blocked. Participants in the actions call for the release of the judicial system from corrupt judges, to introduce new mechanisms for evaluating their activities.
To recall, yesterday Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan called live on Facebook to his supporters to block from 08.30am on May 20 the buildings of all courts of the country. He added that at 12:00 he intends to make a policy statement on the situation in the judicial system. The intention of the head of the Armenian Cabinet was the result of the decision of the court of general jurisdiction of the Nor Nork community of Yerevan, which promulgated the decision on the petition for the release of the second President of the Republic of Armenia Robert Kocharyan on the security of the former and current presidents of Artsakh. To recall, last Thursday, the current and former leaders of Nagorno- Karabakh, Bako Sahakyan and Arkady Ghukasyan personally appeared in court to present a guarantee to change the preventive measure against Robert Kocharyan. They also made a pledge - each of 500 thousand drams.
