ArmInfo. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov met with OSCE Secretary General Thomas Greminger, who was in Moscow to attend the VIII Moscow Conference on International Security.
The press service of the Russian Foreign Ministry told ArmInfo that during the meeting, an exchange of views took place on the role of the OSCE in helping to resolve conflicts in the east of Ukraine, in Transnistria and Nagorno-Karabakh. "The on-going activities of the institutions of the Organization, its missions in the Balkans and in Central Asia, the co-chairmanship of the Geneva discussions on stability in the South Caucasus have been discussed," the report of the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
During the talks, the growing role of the OSCE in restoring confidence and de-escalating the military-political situation in the Euro-Atlantic was stated. The sides reaffirmed the importance of building the capacity of the Organization in the fight against terrorism, drug trafficking and challenges in cyberspace. The parties also discussed the interaction of the OSCE with other regional organizations, including the CSTO, the EAEU, the CIS and the SCO.
