ArmInfo. The head of the Special Investigation Service (SIS) of Armenia, Sasun Khachatryan, believes thatbeing at liberty, Robert Kocharyan can put obstacles in the way of revealing the truth in a criminal case.
He stated this on April 7 intalk to reporters. He recalled that earlier the SSS again applied to the court with a petition to extend the term of the ex-president's arrest. Thus, as Khachatryan pointed out, the position of the investigative body is unchanged. "Being at liberty, Robert Kocharyan can put obstacles in the way of revealing the truth in a criminal case.
This is a court decision, and higher courts are unanimous in the fact that our petition is justified," said the head of the SSS.Recall that on July 26, 2018, in the framework of the preliminary investigation of the criminal case on the events of March 1-2, 2008, the former President of Armenia, Robert Kocharyan, was charged under the first partArticle 300.1 of the Criminal Code of Armenia (an attempt to overthrow the Constitutional system on March 1, 2008). On the same day, a petition was submitted to the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction to elect arrest as a preventive measure against Robert Kocharian.
Special Investigation Service of Armenia on March 13 of this year. sent a petition to the court to extend the term of the arrest of the second president Robert Kocharian for two months. On March 15, the court of first instance granted the prosecution's request to extend Kocharian's arrest.
