ArmInfo. I do not intend to comment on the Armenian Deputy Defense Minister Vahan Shirkhanyan's statement that Nairi Hunanyan was an agent of the National Security Council of Armenia. On March 22 head of the National Security Service of Armenia Artur Vanetsyan stated in an interview with journalists.
Vanetsyan an noted that he has certain information about this, but until he begins to say anything concretely and comment on Shirkhanyan's open letter.
To note, a few days ago, former Deputy Minister of Defense Vahan Shirkhanyan sent an open letter to the second Armenian President Robert Kocharyan. In this letter, he stated that at one time he had a folder with the case of National Security Service agent Nairi Hunanyan, who in 1999 organized the shooting of the Armenian parliament.
To recall, on October 27, 1999, a group of armed people broke into the Armenian parliament building and shot Speaker Karen Demirchyan, Prime Minister Vazgen Sargsyan, Vice Speakers Yuri Bakhshyan and Ruben Miroyan, Minister of Operational Affairs Leonard Petrosyan, MPs Armenak Armenakyan, Henrikh Abrahamyan, and Mikayel Kotanyan.
Hunanyan and his accomplices were sentenced to life imprisonment. Note that the investigation did not reveal the possible organizers of this crime.
