ArmInfo.Diplomacy around Nagorno-Karabakh will continue without visible breakthroughs. Researcher at the Center for the Study of Central Asia, the Caucasus  and the Ural-Volga Region of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the  Russian Academy of Sciences Andrei Areshev a similar opinion  expressed to ArmInfo. 

"In recent months, any Armenian-Azerbaijani negotiations have  attracted increased attention in the context of the prospects for  resolving the conflict. During the Paris meeting of the foreign  ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan, the idea of" preparing nations  for peace "once again came out, after which some Russian experts even  began to call the deadlines agreements involving some compromises on  the part of Yerevan, "he noted.

According to expert estimates, such optimism could be shared only if  there were no belligerent statements from Baku in the spirit of  liberation of ""Artsakh", "Zangezur" and" Irevan" Khanate. " Thus, in  Areshev's opinion, all this nonsense, and noticeably intensified  hostile rhetoric, are not quite combined with the "preparation of  nations for peace" recommended by international mediators. All this  excludes any reason for optimism.

In this regard, Areshev attaches importance to external intrigue  around the Armenian-Azerbaijani summit meetings, which some observers  associate with the efforts of American diplomacy, in particular,  adviser to US President John Bolton. At the same time, the latter is  overwhelmed with the idea of pushing and weakening Russia from  everywhere and in all possible ways.

"In the view of American strategists, following the reconciliation of  Armenia with Azerbaijan and Turkey, a revision of the traditional  view of Russia as a guarantor of Armenia's security will inevitably  follow.  Without settlement of Karabakh, all this is impossible even  in theory. Mr. Bolton discussed this issue during a recent telephone  conversation with Ilham Aliyev and Nikol Pashinyan, although Yerevan  this, "the expert stressed.

Nevertheless, "on the ground," according to Areshev, the situation  continues to evolve in a slightly different direction, as evidenced  by Armenia's acquisition of four Su-30SM multi-role fighters, which  will positively affect the capabilities of the country's air force.  Thus, declaring a commitment to a peaceful resolution of the Karabakh  conflict, Yerevan is stepping up efforts to procure a number of  modern types of weapons, which contributes to the preservation of at  least some kind of stability.
