According to him, he welcomes the steps of the new government to eradicate corruption. But only combating corruption, as Robert Kocharyan believes, one can not build a sound economic policy. At the same time, he doubts that the anti-corruption struggle is so efficient. "This is a classic revolutionary approach," Kocharyan said, recalling that during the years of his tenure, the country's GDP grew 5-fold.

At the same time, as he pointed out, during his presidency - from 1998-2008, corruption did not reach such a scale, and the country's economy was not so monopolized. "20 companies were engaged in import of bananas, 16-17 companies in gasoline import, in contrast to today's highly monopolized market," - he concluded.
