ArmInfo. Armenian Minister of Emergency Situations David Tonoyan received on March 16 the UN Resident Coordinator and Permanent Representative of the United Nations Development Program Shombi Sharp.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, during the meeting the parties agreed to ensure the continuity of existing programs and outlined new ways of expanding cooperation. The sides discussed steps to develop counteraction to natural disasters in the Republic of Armenia, as well as the possibility of neutralizing pesticides and hazardous chemicals, in particular, at the Nairit plant and the pesticide cemetery in Nubarashen.
In turn, Shombi Sharp expressed his readiness to support two national and international events of emergency situations, which will be held in 2018 in Armenia. In particular, Sharpe promised to assist the work of the regional platform of Central Asia and the South Caucasus and the "Enduring Armenia" event, which is timed to the 30th anniversary of the Spitak earthquake.
