ArmInfo.Armenia negatively regards any supply of arms to Azerbaijan. Armenian Defense Minister Vigen Sargsyan said this at a press conference in Yerevan on June 28, commenting on Russia's supply of modern weapons to Azerbaijan.
He noted that Armenia had repeatedly expressed its opinion on this issue and the position of Armenia had not changed. "We are negative about this for a simple reason: Azerbaijan is an unpredictable country where there are no elementary mechanisms of public, democratic control, that is, the level of aggressiveness of this state is due only to the comparison of internal problems that are often beyond analysis," said the head of the Armenian Defense Ministry. According to him, in this connection, whether Russian weapons, or Turkish, or Israeli, any arms deliveries create new serious risks, since it is difficult to understand who makes decisions in this country at any given moment.
He also recalled that Armenia and Russia have their own plan for military-technical and military-political cooperation conditioned by allied and partner relations. According to Sargsyan, Armenia is satisfied with the level of cooperation, an ambitious program is being implemented, and the tasks voiced within the framework of the existing dialogue are more far-reaching than simply arms deliveries. "We receive weapons and ammunition from Russia, and at domestic prices, and this is a very important market for us, including from the point of view of acquiring arms in the framework of cooperation programs. If an official tells you that he is not bothered by Russia's supply of arms to Azerbaijan, he will surely be screwed up by soul, "Sargsyan concluded .
Earlier, the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan reported that in accordance with the intergovernmental agreement and within the framework of successfully developing military-technical cooperation between Azerbaijan and Russia, a planned supply of the latest military equipment was carried out. "A large batch of modern weapons arriving at the port in Baku in the near future will be sent to the front-line zone. This armament will strengthen the combat and maneuver capabilities of the advanced units of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan to defeat armored vehicles, engineering and fortification structures, low-speed air targets, manpower and other enemy facilities. The supply of Russian military equipment and weapons to Azerbaijan will be continued, "the Ministry of Defense reported.
