ArmInfo. Artur Avanesyan (Kandaz), a legendary Artsakh intelligence officer, holder of the Second Degree "Battle Cross" Order, and head of the Strong Armenia security team, who was arrested on charges of electoral bribery, has declared a hunger strike. Arega Hovsepyan, a member of Samvel Karapetyan's Strong Armenia party, shared this information.
According to her, Kandaz has declared a hunger strike against injustice in Armenia, political persecution, and a stand for human rights and dignity. "We are living through such times today, when our hero, a serviceman with 30 years of service, is in an Armenian prison and forced to go on a hunger strike. The recordings distributed by law enforcement are ridiculous, as they don't mention a single word about bribery; they discuss our electoral platform," Hovsepyan noted in her Facebook post.
She also expressed her belief that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has serious complexes regarding war heroes and strong men, as evidenced by Avanesyan's imprisonment. "But there will be changes, and Samvel Karapetyan will bring them. An amnesty will be declared in Armenia, and political persecution will be eliminated," she continued.
She added that just a few months ago, philanthropist Ruben Vardanyan was on a hunger strike in an Azerbaijani prison, and now, hero Avanesyan is on a hunger strike in an Armenian prison. She stressed that it is a stain on Armenian society.
