ArmInfo.Owing to the cooperation of the Foundation for the Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Assets (FPWC) and VivaCell-MTS, which aims at the development of infrastructures in various settlements within eco-village networks program, the situation that formed following the collapse of the USSR is now in the past.

ArmInfo.The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Armenia reports that, as of 09:30am on December 19, there are heavy-going roads in Armenia.  According to  the information, the Sotk-Karvachar roads are heavy-going; the  Vardenyats pass is closed for trucks.

ArmInfo.As of 10:00am, one of the largest election monitoring initiatives, the Independent Observer, recorded the following violations in Gegharkunik, Shirak,  Lori and Kotayk regions According to the report, near the polling  stations of 20/05, Sevan, Gegharkunik region, 23/54 and 23/53 in  Vanadzor, 33/20, in the village of Panik (Shirak region), propaganda  posters were hung.

ArmInfo.Since mid-summer, construction works have been launched in Arpi village of Vayots Dzor region. They will be completed by the end of the year. Arpi will replenish the list of settlements using energy-saving technologies. Residents, impatiently waiting for the launch of the state-of-the-art, energy-efficient LED system, highlight the importance of the solution of street lighting issue from several points of view: the difference of development between the capital and their village will be partially reduced, the flow of people and security during evening hours will increase, the financial burden of the village will be relieved.

The tangible results of these programs will be visible upon the solution of the problems they address, and even more so, in the long-term perspective.

At the core of the program are the remote villages of Armenia. Development of infrastructures evolves in several stages, including implementation of energy saving systems. These systems are advantageous in many ways, particularly as a means to ease the financial burden of the community and to ensure clear environment by mindful usage of natural resources for sustainable future.

ArmInfo.Gnishik settlement in Vayotz Dzor region has a potential for agricultural development. There are around 15-20 ha of lands adjacent to residential areas of the village, which are yet uncultivated; the fruit-bearing trees in land need care to provide an anticipated harvest. Diligence and consistency of the efforts made by the villagers are not enough and the productivity of the lands is four times less than the anticipated. The expenses made to grow the fruits exceed the incomes. The local budget alone cannot help solve the irrigation problem pertaining in the community for the water gets to the village with losses along the way. A local system of irrigation is required.

ArmInfo.The Amulsar issue is painful for Armenia, as it concerns the protection of the environment. This was announced by Armenian President Armen Sarkissian on July 7 at the 3rd youth forum on the topic "Security and Foreign Policy" of the  Armenian Institute for International Affairs and Security Issues.

ArmInfo.An earthquake took place in the Vayots Dzor region of Armenia.  According to the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the earthquake occurred on February 25 at 17:02 local time. 

ArmInfo. According to the situation at 11:00 on February 1, there are difficult roads on the territory of Armenia, sometimes there is ice. According to the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Armenia, no precipitation is expected on the territory of the republic on February 1 during the day, as well as from February 2 to 5. On the night of February 1, light snow is expected in some regions. The Vardenyats pass is closed, the Sotk-Karvachar road is difficult to cross. In the Syunik region, as well as in the cities of Spitak and Vanadzor, the Lori region, on the roads, there is a sleet in some places. "Proceeding from unfavorable weather conditions, we ask drivers to move exclusively on winter tires," the ministry said. At the same time, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Armenia referring to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and the Ministry of Emergencies of South Ossetia informs that the Stepantsminda-Lars road is open for passage of all types of vehicles.

ArmInfo.  The Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Armenia informs that according to the situation at 10:00 on January 24 all the roads of Armenia are mostly passable. As reported by the press service of the department, on the Vardenjets Pass and on the Sotk-Karvachar road there is sometimes a drizzle. According to the information received from the Central Emergency Situations Ministry of the Russian Federation for the Republic of North Ossetia and the Department of Emergencies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, the Stepantsminda-Lars road is open to all types of vehicles.
