" Army in Reality" public interest group has disseminated a statement wherein it slums the Armenian Police for applying violence to citizens and violating their freedom of expression. The authors of the document say that on 28 January the Police dispersed the peaceful assembly of the public interest group in the Liberty Square.
"Mothers of the soldiers that were killed in army gathered in front of the Theater of Opera and Ballet where the country's high-ranking officials were enjoying a festive concert to remind them of the unexposed deaths of their sons. The women were wearing funeral clothing. The Police did not let them approach the building. Furthermore, members of 'Army in Reality' public interest group Vardges Gaspari, Ara Nedolyan and Artashes Sergoyan were illegally detained and taken to police. When Gaspari demand documents and grounds of their detention, he was violently thrown out of the police office to the street under the rain and in the mud," the statement reads.
Members of the group claim that application of violence to the mothers who lost their sons in army and the citizens who raise the army problems once again shows that army problems is a taboo in the country.
