Internet connectivity in Armenia makes up 56.9%, according to the survey conducted from December 2013 till March 2013 by the Noy-Firm production cooperative at the request of Internet Community NGO. The results of the survey were presented at INET Armenia conference on October 8.
According to the results, internet connectivity made up 60.5% in Yerevan and 48% in the regions of Armenia. 76% of the total number of users fell on Yerevan and 24% on the regions.
In Yerevan the highest internet connectivity was fixed in Kentron and Davitashen administrative districts - 74% and 68.3%, respectively. The following districts ranked next: Arabkir - 67.7%, Ajapnyak - 67%, Nork-Marash - 61.9%, Kanaker-Zeytun - 60.2%, Shengavit - 59.7%, Nor Nork - 55.5%, Avan - 53.2%, Malatia Sebastia - 51.2%, Erebuni - 45.7%, Nubarashen - 41.2%.
Among the regions, the highest indices were fixed in Kotayk - 58.6%, Ararat - 53.1%. Armavir - 51.9%. The following regions ranked next: Lori - 49.2%, Syunik - 48.2%, Gegharkunik - 46.3%, Vayots Dzor - 42.1%, Tavush - 40.7%, Aragatsotn - 39%. The lowest internet connectivity was fixed in Shirak - 38.1%.
The major part of internet users (33.8%) was at the age ranging from 31 to 45, with the internet connectivity for this age group being 67.1%. People aged 46-60 ranked next - 22.8% (53.5% connectivity). People aged 23-30 held the third place - 20.4% (60% connectivity). The following age groups ranked next people aged 18-22 - 12.5% (52.2% connectivity), people above 61 - 5.8% (41.1% connectivity), and people under 18 - 4.6% (43.8% connectivity).
56.5% of the Internet users are men, 43.5% are women. They make for 59.8% and 53.5% of all men and women, respectively.
33.1% of the respondents said they have technical education (77.2% internet connectivity), 26.8% humanitarian education (64.7%), 19.4% high education (47.5%), 12% vocational education (28.7%).
635 respondents said they do not use the Internet: 26.7% have no computers, 23.9% cannot afford the service, 12% have no time, 11.8% have no need, 10.7% have smart-phones, 10.2% have no connection, 4.4% do not know how to use it.
The survey was conducted among 1,474 people in 12 communities of Yerevan and 10 marzes.
