ArmInfo.The trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Armenia still leaves much to be desired. On December 3, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Timur Urazaev told reporters on the sidelines of a round table dedicated to the export of opportunities between Kazakhstan and the Republic of Armenia, organized by the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Armenia.
He emphasized that, in recent years despite the growth of volume of trade in quantitative terms, in monetary terms, mutual trade is not large.The ambassador also drew attention to the diversification of exports between Armenia and Kazakhstan, which on the one hand, according to the diplomat, bears positive trends, along with which speaks about the instability of commodity positions.
Urazaev also drew attention to the fact that he was observing a certain disappointment on the part of business from both sides. In this regard, he attached importance to holding such events, which will allow summing up the results of the past years, in particular, allowing the Armenian business to draw conclusions and find acceptable niches for itself in the Kazakhstan market.
At the same time, he informed that the Office of the Honorary Consul of Kazakhstan in the RA was opened in Armenia in summer, which is endowed with additional functions in order to periodically give an unbiased assessment regarding the development of business cooperation and opportunities. In addition, the head of the Kazakh diplomatic mission noted that, in general, the outgoing year was active for Armenia and Kazakhstan, referring in this vein to a number of mutual visits, including the heads of state.
During the round table, Advisor to the Minister of Economy of the Republic of Armenia Vahagn Lalayan also drew attention to the fact that the results of mutual trade between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Kazakhstan were not satisfactory, and the potential for trade and economic cooperation was not realized. According to the adviser to the minister, export trade should be the most important component in the development of relations. In this regard, Lalayan noted that in Armenia, as in other developing countries, there are problems in terms of exports related to the limited range of goods and directions. , he said. It should be noted that according to the data of the Statistical Committee of the Republic of Armenia, the foreign trade turnover between Armenia and Kazakhstan in January-September 2019 decreased by 45.4%, amounting to 5.4 million. In particular, exports decreased by 53.1% to 3.5 million, while imports fell by 21, 5% to 1.9mln.
