ArmInfo.The CIS Inter-parliamentary Assembly observers held a final meeting on the results of monitoring the presidential elections in the Republic of Kazakhstan. The press service of the CIS IPA told ArmInfo that at the meeting the participants exchanged impressions of observing the voting process at the polling stations in Nur-Sultan and settlements of Akmola, Zhambyl and Karaganda regions of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The meeting participants studied the summary data on the results of the observations, as well as information on the monitoring of the presidential elections in the Republic of Kazakhstan at foreign polling stations in Baku (Azerbaijan Republic), Yerevan (Armenia), Minsk (Belarus), Bishkek (Kyrgyz Republic), Moscow and St. Petersburg (Russian Federation).
At the end of the meeting, the opinion of the IPA CIS observers was unanimously approved and signed. The report also stresses that international observers from the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly conducted the most complete monitoring of the voting process at the extraordinary presidential elections in the Republic of Kazakhstan. They attended the opening of polling stations in Nur-Sultan, during the day they visited polling stations in the capital, as well as in the Akmola, Zhambyl and Karaganda regions of the country. In addition, observers from the IPA CIS took part in monitoring the voting process at six foreign polling stations established at the diplomatic and consular missions of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Baku (Azerbaijan), Yerevan (Republic of Armenia), Minsk (Republic of Belarus), Bishkek (Kyrgyz Republic ), Moscow and St. Petersburg (Russian Federation). In the polling stations covered by the monitoring, the voting process was organized at a sufficiently high level and in accordance with the requirements of the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Observers noted an active voter turnout. To note, the snap presidential elections were held on the ninth of June. Seven candidates run for the main state post. According to the exit poll, the current president of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, leads, gaining almost 70% of the vote. He thanked his team for the work done and commented on voting. In Kazakhstan, the president is elected for five years. There is no turnout threshold, the elections will be declared valid in any case. To win, the candidate must collect more than 50% of the vote.
